Morie Gertz, professor of medicine, earned his MD from Loyola University, and completed his residency and fellowship at various institutions, including Mayo Clinic. He is board certified in internal medicine, hematology, and medical oncology.

Dr. Gertz has received numerous honors and awards, such as the Master American College Physicians, the Jan Waldenstrom Medal, and the 2019 Research Career Achievement Award from Mayo Clinic. He has held various academic and leadership positions, such as the chair of the Division of Hematology and the Department of Internal Medicine at Mayo Clinic, and the president of the staff and the Officers and Councilors of Mayo Clinic.
